Usage Guide

Get set up in about five minutes.

Everything from installing the app to syncing your orders.

1

Download and install

Grab the standalone app from the latest release on GitHub and run it. Windows will likely show a blue "Windows protected your PC" warning, since the installer isn't code-signed — click More infoRun anyway to continue.

2

Get your BrickLink API keys

Log into BrickLink, go to BrickLink API, and register new API keys. Set both Allowed IP and Mask IP to 0.0.0.0 so it isn't blocked from your machine. You'll get four values: Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Token Value, and Token Secret.

These four values act like a password to your BrickLink store. StudBalance stores them locally on your computer only — they are never sent anywhere except directly to BrickLink's own servers.

3

Complete the setup screen

The first time you open StudBalance, it'll ask for a store name (just a label) and the four API values from the previous step. Click Connect & Continue — it tests the keys against BrickLink before saving, so a typo will tell you immediately rather than failing silently later.

4

Sync your orders

Click Sync Now in the top bar. StudBalance pulls your sales and purchases from BrickLink and stores them locally. Re-run this any time to pull new orders — it only adds what's new, so it's always safe to click again.

5

Add anything BrickLink doesn't know about

Switch to the Manual Expenses tab to log costs BrickLink never sees — packaging, shipping supplies, inventory, and so on. These get folded into your Net profit automatically.

6

Pick a date range and currency, then export

Use the date filters and currency dropdown at the top to view any period in whichever currency you prefer. When you need records outside the app, use the Export dropdown for Excel, HTML, CSV, or XML.

Switching to a different store

If you manage more than one BrickLink store, use the API Settings button in the top bar to enter a different store's keys. There's a checkbox to clear previously-synced orders when you do this — leave it checked, since mixing two stores' order history together will make every total on the dashboard incorrect.

Something not working?

If you're stuck, open an issue on GitHub — include what you were doing and any error text you saw.
